Kwasi Prempeh

Kwasi Prempeh H. Kwasi Prempeh, a legal policy and governance specialist, brings to the idilmat Capacity Development Network a wealth of experience in a broad range of legal, public policy and governance issues.

A professor of law at Seton Hall University School of Law, New Jersey, USA, he has established himself as an expert on constitutionalism and institutional development in emerging democracies and an astute analyst of the mechanics of corruption and the design of effective methods for curbing its practice. He is the author of a number of published articles, monographs and book chapters on constitutionalism, corruption, the administration of justice, and corporate governance.

A 2011 Reagan-Fascell Democracy Fellow at the International Forum for Democratic Studies, the National Endowment for Democracy, Washington DC, Kwasi is a founding director of the Ghana Center for Democratic Development (CDD-Ghana), Ghana’s leading pro-democracy think tank and governance research institute. As director of legal policy and governance of CDD-Ghana, he worked extensively on a number of important proposed legislation. He is a leading and respected voice on the workings of the Ghana constitution and an advocate for its reform.

Mr. Prempeh has organized and made presentations at a number of successful workshops and seminars on matters relating to the rule of law, democratic consolidation, and administration of justice. He has also provided consulting services on governance, anti-corruption, land sector reform, and public finance management to a number of donor agencies, including UNDP, the World Bank, DFID, DANIDA, GTZ and USAID. His country experience includes the United States, Tanzania and Ghana.

Kwasi graduated with a JD from the Yale Law School, Yale University, in New Haven, Connecticut, and an MBA from the Baylor University Graduate School of Business, in Texas, United States. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Administration from the University of Ghana.
